Cookies Policy

This website, owned by VAILV Voluntary Association, data controller pursuant to Legislative Decree No. 196 of June 30, 2003 (the "Privacy Code"), uses cookies and similar technologies. This policy provides information on how cookies are used and how users can control them.

Using this website implies acceptance of the use of cookies (and similar technologies) in accordance with this policy.

Cookies are small text files that can be used by websites to improve the user experience.

The law states that we can store cookies on your device if they are strictly necessary for the operation of this site. For all other types of cookies (analytics, advertising, profiling), we require your permission.

If you accept profiling cookies, as identified below, they will be added to your existing profile in our databases, provided you have given your consent to marketing and profiling activities or have become a supporter (e.g., for donations, to participate in initiatives).

If you do not wish to accept the use of cookies for analysis, advertising, or profiling purposes, you can change your browser settings as described in the "How to control and delete cookies" section.

Your consent applies to: www.vailv.it

What are cookies

Cookies are pieces of information stored on the hard drive of a user's terminal and sent from the user's browser to a web server. They therefore allow us to understand the services and sites visited, and the options selected while browsing the web. In other words, cookies are small files containing letters and numbers that are downloaded to your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. The cookies are then sent back to the original site on each subsequent visit, or to another website that recognizes these cookies. Cookies are useful because they allow a website to recognize the user's device.

This information is therefore not provided spontaneously and directly, but leaves traces of the user's browsing activity.

Cookies perform various functions and allow you to navigate between pages efficiently, remembering your preferences, and, more generally, improving your experience. They can also help ensure that the advertisements displayed during browsing are relevant to the user and that the marketing activities implemented are consistent with their preferences, avoiding unwanted promotional initiatives or those that don't meet the user's needs.

While browsing a website, the user may also receive cookies on their terminal that are sent from different websites or web servers (so-called "third parties"), which may contain certain elements (e.g., images, maps, sounds, specific links to pages on other domains) present on the website they are visiting.

Therefore, in this regard, there may be:

First-party cookies, sent directly from this site to the user's device

Third-party cookies, originating from a third party but sent on our behalf. This site uses third-party cookies to facilitate the analysis of our website and its use (as described below).

Furthermore, depending on the purpose of use, cookies can be classified as:

Technical Cookies: these are used to enable the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network or to provide a service specifically requested by the user. They are not used for other purposes.

The Technical cookies category, whose use does not require the user's consent, include:

Browsing or session Cookies: these ensure normal navigation and use of the website (e.g., to authenticate and access restricted areas). The use of these cookies (which are not stored permanently on the user's device and are automatically deleted when the browser is closed) is strictly limited to the transmission of session identifiers (consisting of random numbers generated by the server) necessary to enable safe and efficient browsing of the site.
Analytics Cookies: these are used solely to collect information in aggregate form on the number of users visiting the site and how they visit it.
Functionality Cookies: these allow the user to navigate based on a set of selected criteria (e.g., language or subscribed services) to improve the service provided to the user.

Profiling Cookies: these are designed to create user profiles and are used to send targeted promotional messages based on the preferences expressed while browsing the web. These cookies can be used for these purposes only with the user's consent.

How Cookies are used by this website

We summarize below how this site and third-party cookies are used.

The uses of cookies include:

  • understand the total number of ongoing visitors, as well as the types of browsers (e.g., Firefox, Safari, or Internet Explorer) and operating systems (e.g., Windows or Macintosh);

  • monitor site performance, including how visitors use it, as well as improve its functionality;

  • customize and improve the online user experience.

What categories of cookies do we use and how you can manage them.

The types of cookies used can be classified into one of the categories listed in the following table, which allows you to give or modify your consent (if previously given) to accept the various types of cookies:

Necessary technical and statistical Cookies

Necessary cookies help make the website usable by enabling basic functions such as page navigation and access to secure areas of the site. The website cannot function properly without these cookies. Statistical cookies help website owners understand how visitors interact with sites by collecting and transmitting information anonymously.

Profiling Cookies – Social Media

These cookies are set by a series of services related to major social media platforms, which are added to the site and can track your browser on other sites and build a profile of your interests.

Analytics Cookies

Analytics cookies are used to understand how visitors interact with the website. These cookies help provide anonymous information on metrics such as visitor numbers, bounce rates, traffic sources, etc.

The following list details the cookies used on our website:

Technologies similar to Cookies

As with many websites, we use technologies similar to cookies, including local shared objects (also known as "flash cookies"), browser history analysis, browser fingerprinting, and pixel tags (also known as "web beacons"). These technologies provide us and our vendors with information about how visitors use the site and its content and allow us to identify whether your computer or device has visited our or other sites in the past.

Our servers automatically collect the user's IP address; this allows us to associate that address with the user's domain name or their Internet Service Provider. We may also collect certain "clickstream data" related to usage of the website. Clickstream data includes, for example, information about the user's computer or device, browser and operating system and settings, the page they came from, the pages and content viewed or clicked on during the visit, as well as the timing and type of these actions, items downloaded, the site visited after ours, and any search terms entered on our site or on a redirecting site.

How to control or delete Cookies

The user has the right to choose whether or not to accept cookies. Below is some information on how to exercise this right. However, please note that by choosing to reject cookies, the user may not be able to use all the features of the site, and if they have previously consented to profiling, the communications they receive may not be relevant to their interests. Please also note that if you choose to manage your cookie preferences, our cookie management tool will still set a technical cookie on your device to allow us to implement your preferences. Deleting or removing cookies from your device also removes the cookie associated with your preferences; these choices will therefore need to be made again.

It's possible to block cookies using the selection links in the table above. Alternatively, you can change your browser settings so that cookies cannot be stored on your device. To do this, follow the instructions provided by your browser (usually found in the "Help," "Tools," or "Edit" menus). Disabling a cookie or category of cookies does not delete them from the browser. Therefore, this operation must be performed directly in the browser.

If you want to delete, disable, or restore cookies on your computer, you can use the cookie configuration pages provided by third-party content providers, or through your browser options.

How to manage Cookies and opt out of their use

There are several options for managing, disabling, and deleting cookies.

(1) Change your browser settings

Follow the instructions provided by your browser manufacturer to find out how to manage, disable, or delete all cookies (technical, analytics, and profiling):

If you use a mobile device, please refer to its instruction manual to find out how to manage cookies.

How can I control my Cookie preferences?

You can manage your cookie preferences by clicking the "Cookie Settings" link and enabling or disabling cookie categories in the pop-up according to your preferences.

If you decide to change your preferences later during your browsing session, you can click the "Review Consent" tab at the bottom right of the screen. This will redisplay the consent notice, allowing you to change your preferences or withdraw your consent entirely.

In addition, different browsers provide different methods for blocking and deleting cookies used by websites.

You can change your browser settings to block/delete cookies.

Previously set Cookies

If the user disabled one or more cookies, we will still be able to use the information collected before you disabled them through your preferences. However, from that point on, we will no longer use disabled cookies to collect further information.

Information on the use of third-party Cookies

When visiting a website, you may receive cookies from both the site you are visiting ("proprietary cookies") and from sites managed by other organizations ("third parties"). A notable example is the presence of "social plugins" for Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and LinkedIn. These are parts of the visited page generated directly by these sites and integrated into the host site's page. The most common use of social plugins is for sharing content on social networks. The presence of these plugins involves the transmission of cookies to and from all sites managed by third parties.

The management of information collected by "third parties" is governed by the relevant policies, to which you are kindly requested to refer. To ensure greater transparency and convenience, the web addresses of the various policies and methods for managing cookies are provided below.

These cookies are also collected and managed anonymously to monitor and improve the performance of the host site (performance cookies).

This information is collected by Google Analytics, which processes it to prepare reports for the VAILV Voluntary Association operators regarding website activity.
